LINEO provides new solutions for the use of natural flax fibers in composite applications.

Flax fibres bring new properties to composites parts. Flax is lighter than carbon and can decrease vibrations. For example, we have added flax in the following tennis raquet so as to increase the dampening properties of composite parts without losing mechanical performance:

The flax fibre can be considered as a complementary fibre to glass or carbon which can bring new properties to your parts and increase the quality of your final products.

Lineo wins JEC Europe 2015 Innovation Award

FlaxTape can be applied by automakers as a multi-position trunk load floor or a structural floor in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. The use of unidirectional long non–woven flax fibers as reinforcement allows a drastic weight reduction, the company says.

The Flaxpreg project, developed by Faurecia with PSA Peugeot-Citröen, Lineo and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (France) was started in 2011 with the aim of designing structural trim parts focusing on drastic weight reduction, the use of renewable resources and a process in line with automotive cycle times and material costs constraints meeting the requirements of automotive mass production.

Due to its very low density, FlaxTape offers improved mechanical properties allowing for a 35% weight reduction compared to traditional petro-based glass mat, polyurethane sandwich solutions.


As part of the SIMBAA project funded by the French Defence Ministry, Lineo developed solution to fulfil self-extinguishing requirement for aeronautic applications.
